An unlikely entry into the Food Business
I have been cooking and experimenting since I was 5. Despite wanting to pursue something in the arts, I decided to pursue Science. I completed my Bachelors and Masters in Biotechnology and spent the next 4 four years pursuing a PhD degree. I eventually left the degree due to unprecedented hardships. Soon after, I married my longtime partner and I shifted to Delhi. In, October 2022, a few of my recipe videos went viral. And it gave me a platform to pursue what I have always wanted to – cooking, videography and writing. I hope to work hard and fulfil my dreams of running a successful business, teach people how to cook both healthy and indulgent Indian food and tell stories along the way.
I have grown up in many different places throughout my life. I have lived in Kolkata, West Bengal India, the longest. I shifted to Delhi in March of 2022 and I live here with my husband, his mother and our dog Paneer
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I have an American accent? Is it fake?
I learnt English in the US. My father was a post Doc student in New Jersey and we lived there for a few years. The accent stuck. But, I don’t use the accent with fellow Indians since people ask too many questions or judge very harshly. I speak in the normal Indian accent when I am out in Public. So, neither of my accents are fake. One is how I feel most comfortable talking in, the other one is to adapt to my surroundings.
Am I married?
Yes! I married my best friend in 2022 after dating long distance for 7 years. We live in Delhi
How old am I?
I am 30 at the moment
Do I regret studying for so long?
No. I think I learnt valuable life lessons while pursuing my career in science. Science itself is so vast that learning never gets boring. It gave me a sense of purpose and a sense of achievement. I hope to use my knowledge in biotech in the future.
